Purposeful Teaching Course: Alignment-based Hatha Yoga
By Parveen Nair

Sarvatra to Ekagraha (From Scattered to Purposeful)

This course is designed to explore purposeful sequencing of asanas; from Standing asanas to complex asanas with the assistance of Yoga props. The purpose is to show how Yoga props help us get into poses safely and to discover unreachable areas in the body progressively.

The Master classes will also show us how to meaningfully build up an asana class, with proper progressive sequencing according to function of the Body.

In this course, we will learn the following:

  • How to break down asanas into their basic elements

  • How to use props to gradually prepare the body for specific asanas

  • How to create a logical and anatomically-sound Yoga sequence

  • How to select counter-poses to relieve any built-up stress in the body

Awakening to Spirituality:
Exploring The Mandukya Upanishad
By Parveen Nair

The Mandukya Upanishad is a non-dualistic text from the Indian Vedic system of teachings.

The text discusses the most essential awakening to spirituality. The ever existing consciousness which pervades all states of awakeness, dreaming and deep sleep.

All of the 3 states above are illumined by the ever-existing consciousness which has always been there from time immemorial.

This text shows how the Vedic spirituality is based on our very existence. The text also discusses the universal mantra OM , and its function on the journey toward enlightenment.

Each lecture concludes with an enlightening guided-meditation.

Neo Yin Yoga Teacher Training
By Deep Kumar

Yin yoga is a meditative way of using the body, mind and breath.

According to Hatha Yoga texts "Ha" means Sun or Yang; "Tha" means Moon or Yin. Yin yoga represents the "Tha" Moon side of a very old and ancient system.

Yin yoga works very intelligently on Yin tissues of the body without forcing. It is also often used in Chinese martial arts.

Through many good masters of this time, Yin Yoga is coming back into daily life. Our modern lifestyle is full of stress and tension; even the yoga styles which are developed in this modern time are totally yang. they work very forcefully on the body and the mind. Yin yoga is perfect for balancing the body and countering the effects of other, more vigorous practices.

In this course, we will learn:

1. What is Yin Yoga?

2. Neo Yin yoga postures with the Philosophy of Patanjali's Yoga Sutras and Lao Tzu (Tao Teh Ching)

3. Seven chakras and their healing effect

4. Creating balance between Yin and Yang postures

5. Adjustments and using props

6. Meditation and Yin Yoga

7. Understanding the concept of yoga healing referred to in the "Hatha Yoga Pradipika" by Swami Swatmarama

8. What is Kundalini and how to awaken it?

9.Yogic psychology and how it helps overcome 80% of psychological problems.

Pranayama: Expanding the Life Force
By Seba Khanna

A three-hour intensive workshop in the practice of pranayama, which literally translates into “extension or expansion of life-force”.

In this workshop, we will learn and practice a range of traditional breathing techniques. These techniques are balancing in the way that they cleanse the system, steady the body and mind and ultimately open us to bring us in contact with our inner selves.

Despite the countless benefits of pranayama on the vital functions of the body, the highest work of this practice is to begin to cross the bridge from the physical to the subtle aspects of our existence.

This workshop is suitable for Yoga practitioners and instructors wishing to acquaint themselves with a variety of traditional pranayamas and practice them first-hand with a skilled and knowledgeable teacher.

Restorative Yoga & Pranayama Master Classes
By Parveen Nair

Restorative Yoga offers the body a chance to rest deeply and revitalise; discovering a need to simply slow down and tune into the body, breath and mind. This practice will introduce the different layers of being from the gross aspect to the subtle-most aspects of being. The entire practice is supported by yoga props to keep the body safe and stable, giving us the opportunity to move into the dimensions of the breath.

From the restorative postures we move into the breath-work. In this course we will discover the Yogic breath-work called Prana Vikshana, Brahmari and Shanmukhi mudra. These 3 methods of breathing are the doorways to the seat of meditation. The technique restrains the mind fully, to then move into a higher realm of self reflection.

Restorative.jpg
Restorative 2.jpg

Prana Vikshana : Is A Technique of simple observation over the natural flow of breath without making any other modifications on the breath pattern.

Brahmari : A Technique mentioned in the Hatha Yoga Pradipika by the Sages is also known as the Humming-bee breath-work. This method stimulates the Vagus nerve which then influences the para-sympathetic system of the body; slowing down the mind so that we can take rest or even see things clearer.

Shanmukhi Mudra : A hand gesture which seals the senses from getting drawn toward the objects of the world . This practice amplifies the sound of the breath within the body and is also combined with the Brahmari breath-work.
