Goal-setting & Periodization
for Personal Trainers
A good personal trainer should be able to help clients look at the big picture and incorporate their specific goals into a broader training program that would balance all aspects of physical fitness. In order to do this, a trainer needs to be able to design a long-term plan and help his clients follow it step-by-step.
This comprehensive workshop will give you the knowledge you need regarding the following:
Periodization: Designing training cycles
Manipulating training variables
Some postural deviations may be present for a very long time without setting-off any symptoms of injury or discomfort. However, once we start exercising, the forces exerted on these weak, misaligned joints can onset symptoms and/or become the source of certain injuries.
Also, when we start training new clients, we need to have standardized measures detailing their starting fitness level. This allows us to have a quantitative reference point against which we can measure their progress.
In this workshop, you will learn how to assess all of the following:
Resting Heart Rate (RHR)
Circumference (girth) measurements
Testing for Spinal Deviations
Testing for Scapular Misalignment
Manual Adjustments for
When we teach a Fluid Yoga™ class, we can expect to have attendees of different levels, different backgrounds and with different anatomical and postural deviations. Anatomy for Yoga
It is very important for Yoga instructors to have a good understanding of Anatomy, and how the different parts of our body come together to make Yoga Asanas happen.
This workshop will help you learn key concepts of anatomy and kinesiology and how they apply to Yoga Asanas.
You will discover the bones, muscles and joints of the body, learn about the 5 movements of the spine and how they relate to Yoga Asanas.
You will also gain the basic knowledge you need to teach safe and effective Yoga classes that will help your students reap all the benefits while staying safe from harm.
In order to teach any form of yoga, we need to have at least a basic understanding of the fundamental concepts on which yoga stands. Fitness and modern medicine alike are only concerned with the tangible (physical) body of a person and the quantitative and measureable changes that happen to that body due to a certain exercise regime. In yoga, however, the physical body is considered to be the least important aspect and the most “perishable” part of our being.
In this workshop, we will explore the basic concepts of Subtle Anatomy:
Prana: the Life Force
Vayus: the different breaths or currents that energize us
Nadis: the major energy pathways
Chakras: the wheels or valves that regulate energy flow
Koshas: the five layers of being
Atman: the True Self
